We’ve been inspired by many, in Portland and beyond. At Great Notion, we put care and creativity into each beer we brew, from classic lagers and hazy IPAs to off-the-wall sours and stouts.

Our brewpubs serve creative Northwest food delicacies such as flavorful seafood dishes, award-winning fried chicken sandwiches, house-smoked BBQ, imperial kale caeser salads and more. When it comes to brewing creative craft beer, we realize the immense talent within this city.

Freshly emptied Bourbon barrels age our imperial stouts on ingredients like roasted coffee, vanilla beans, chocolate, and maple syrup. A portion of our sour ales are blended with Oregon fruit like pinot noir grapes, blueberries, strawberries, and cherries. Our barrel program offers award-winning American sour ales aged for 9-24 months in oak barrels. We sell our beer direct to beer drinkers from our own taprooms in draft and cans to-go. GN has 5 taprooms in the Pacific Northwest:, and in Portland and (opening EOY 2020) and in Seattle. GNB has won numerous Gold and Silver medals over the years, including accolades at World Beer Cup, GABF, Best of Craft Beer Awards, and Oregon Beer Awards, as well as the 2018 #1 IPA in America from Paste Magazine. We offer hazy, fruit-forward IPAs and “culinary-inspired” sours & stouts. Great Notion Brewing (GNB) is a brewery started by three friends and neighbors in Portland, Oregon.
